about kayla morrison

Kayla Morrison is an American footballer who plays for Melbourne Victory in the A-Leagues Women and is one of the most acclaimed players currently playing in Australia’s top flight.

Originally hailing from Orange County, California, she played college soccer for the University of Kansas and appeared in 83 consecutive games during her NCAA Division 1 career.

Upon graduating in December 2017, Kayla became the first Jayhawk in history to be named the Big 12’s Defender of the Year following her superb performances in defence.

A communications major, she moved to Melbourne in 2018 and featured prominently for the Bulleen Lions in NPLW over the course of the next two seasons.

During her time with the Lions, Kayla claimed the 2018 NPLW Championship while also winning the Media Player of the Year award in both 2018 and 2019.

After a spell playing professionally in Sweden for Moron Bollklubb in 2020, the commanding centre back signed for Melbourne Victory ahead of the 2020-21 W-League season.

In what proved to be one of the most dominant individual campaigns in the competition’s history, Kayla played every minute of every game as Victory won the Championship.

Her reward for a triumphant individual and team season was winning the Victory Medal, the Players’ Player of the Year as well as being named in the PFA’s Team of the Season.
