Elijah Winnington is one of Australian swimming’s rising stars and made his Olympics debut in Tokyo.
Gold Coast-born and bred, Elijah won 26 National Age Championship gold medals while growing up and formerly held the Junior World Record in the 200m freestyle.
In his first appearance on the senior Dolphins team, Elijah was a member of the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay team who won gold and set a new Games Record at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The hometown hero continued his rapid rise up the ranks by winning gold in the 400m freestyle at the 2019 and 2021 Australian Swimming Championships.
An impressive qualifier for Tokyo, Elijah became an Olympic bronze medallist as part of the Men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay team and made the finals of the men’s 400m freestyle.
