After a breakout debut season in the A-league, Ryan Kitto has returned home to continue his burgeoning football career. Born in Adelaide, Ryan celebrated his 22nd birthday in August not long after signing a two-year contract with Adelaide United.
Ryan joins the reigning A-League Champions after spending last season with the Newcastle Jets. Despite a disappointing campaign for the Jets, Ryan was one of the brightest lights, showing his pace, skill and eye for goal on many occasions throughout the season.
With two goals and four assists in 18 matches last season, Ryan is poised to take another leap in the coming year. He is already looking comfortable in the Reds’ lineup, scoring in Adelaide’s only goal in their Round of 32 FFA Cup match.
Ryan made his A-League debut with Adelaide during the 2013/14 season, before returning to his junior club West Torrens Birkalla in 2015, where he was a standout in the South Australian National Premier League. He scored 17 goals and was awarded the Sergio Melta Medal as the competition’s best player.
His strong performances earned him a chance with the Jets, where his attacking, aggressive style of play was showcased. The Australian youth international looks set to play a vital role in Adelaide’s defence of their A-League crown.
