W Sports & Media in conjunction with the National Basketball League is proud to announce the hosting of the inaugural Australian National Pro Combine on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 June 2016 at State Basketball Centre in Melbourne.
This historic Combine will provide Australia’s most promising up and coming basketball players an opportunity to impress coaches in attendance from majority of the NBL clubs and other leading basketball identities and SEABL basketball clubs.
This unique and first of its kind event in Australia will see players:
- compete in live games and promote their talents to Australia’s best coaches;
- be tested by leading sport scientists on their athletic and physical capabilities; and
- compete against talented players looking to play at the highest level
“The NBL is proud to support an initiative that gives Australian and international talent a potential pathway to the NBL that they have never previously had in Australia” said Jeremy Loeliger, General Manager of the NBL.
“This is a terrific opportunity for the Australian basketball community and I am really looking forward to being involved” said Phil Smyth, host of the Combine.
“This is an exciting concept and I think all coaches are looking forward to seeing the talent on show”– said Joey Wright, coach of the Adelaide 36ers and one of the attendees at the event.
We see the Combine as a great initiative and a strong opportunity for basketball players around Australia to showcase their talents” – Jacob Holmes, Chief Officer, Australian Basketballers Association.
“The Combine has been modelled on similar combines currently operated in the US, which will give some of Australia’s best basketball talent the opportunity to impress the best in the business” – said Olaf Borutz, event organiser on behalf of W Sports & Media.
The Combine is generously supported by the State Basketball Centre, WRP Legal & Advisory, Australian and New Zealand Basketball Scouts and Fortisocks.
