Alexander Hill

Alexander ‘Alex’ Hill is a world champion rower, Tokyo Olympic Gold Medallist and a member of the Adelaide Rowing Club.

Originally from Berri in South Australia’s Riverland region, Alex was introduced to rowing while attending Prince Alfred College in Adelaide during his mid-teens.

A late newcomer to the sport, he excelled at junior and national competition level and in 2016 was named in the men’s coxless four rowing team for the Rio Olympics.

At the Games, Alex and team won their semi-final heat before placing second behind Great Britain to win Silver in the final of the rowing event.

In 2017, he was a member of the coxless four team that won Australia’s first world championship title since the Oarsome Foursome in 1991.

Four years later, Alex’s command of the stroke seat helped Australia’s coxless four-win Gold in an Olympic best time in Tokyo and in the process entrenched himself in this nation’s sporting history.
