wealth of experience
Alex is a Senior Political Reporter with the Seven Network, based in Canberra’s Federal Press Gallery, and a proud ambassador for the Australian Diabetes Council. He is an experienced television journalist who appears regularly on Seven News, Sunrise, and The Morning Show. He is also a regular contributor to the Yahoo!7 website, and has provided expert political analysis and reports for a number of radio stations across the country and in New Zealand.
Having covered Federal politics for almost five years and general news in Adelaide before that, Alex has a vast amount of experience for someone his age. Among the recent highlights for him have been covering the 2007 and 2010 Federal elections, numerous leadership challenges (including the infamous knifing of Kevin Rudd) and the Afghanistan War. Alex played a key role in the Seven Network’s coverage of the visits to Australia of Queen Elizabeth 11 and US President Barack Obama.
Alex’s passion for news has seen him develop a proven track record of breaking exclusive stories. After almost a decade in journalism, he has developed a substantial network of contacts and a reputation for consistently getting the job done.
Outside of his daily work duties, Alex is an experienced host/MC who has worked with several corporate and private organisations. Alex is also the co-founder of an Adelaide-based fundraising group which has raised more than $40,000 in the past two years for beyondblue – the national depression initiative. He is a sports nut who retired from Australian Rules Football in 2012, but still passionately supports the Melbourne Demons in the AFL.
